Koshin's Blockbuster

TITLE: THE DESIRE

1)Blockbusters have very simple story lines that are easy to understand and have universal appeal. This is done through the symbolic materials shown in the film. The story line tells us that its set in central California and a disease is spreading. A man (Kirk Van Baster) has found a cure which he had constructed himself and is now on a quest to find 24 other of his lab with 24 recovery pills who are in the Netherlands that are capable of producing more recovery pills in their labs to help cure as many people as possible. The story line is basic enough to understand because of the landscapes shown in the film. This constructs the idea that the world is about to end. This disease instantly kills when it spreads to the blood stream.

2) Blockbusters are populated by characters who are easy to understand. Each character shown in the film are imperative for the film's interest. However, the main character Kirk Van Baster is the most important shown mostly through out the film travelling and being determined to stop the disease from spreading all over the world and causing human life to end rapidly. Another character who is his right hand man and helped him to get to safety is called Mark Klasen who helped him to safety after the disease hit Kirk.

3) Blockbusters are marketed on their 'look'.

The CGI's help shows the explosions of 'clean areas' in Central California that are blowing up the exit points for infected people entering the area. The sound track is very upsetting and thrilling at the same time.

4) Blockbusters become a brand. This has become a brand through the industrial revolutionary world of film by the audience who are called 'customer consumers', they are a big part of the film's success through the spreading the word and bringing in money. Also, the brand is established through the film producers who make synopsis of the film and trailers.
